The English translation of Ithemba Labasha is 'Hope for our Children,' and that is exactly what the Community Centre embodies each and every day. At the heart of Shaka's Head, Ithemba Labasha runs a full-day care facility that has grown to serve up to 70 preschool toddlers and babies, offering them not just a safe place, but a nurturing foundation for a brighter future. The children are welcomed each morning with a nutritious breakfast or fortified porridge and later receive a wholesome, hot cooked lunch - ensuring that their bodies are nourished as much as their minds. Beyond meals, the Centre provides essential early learning opportunities, with 4-5 year olds receiving basic education lessons that spark curiosity and prepare them for school and for life. Despite limited government funding, Ithemba Labasha remains a beacon of hope, driven by love, resilience, and a powerful vision: to give every child the chance to dream, to grow, and to thrive.

To become the shining light in our community that we aspire to be, we need your support. Providing nutritious meals is one of our highest priorities — because without proper nourishment, these little ones, in the most critical years of their development, cannot grow into their full physical and mental potential.
In addition to feeding the children, we also need to cover essential operational costs like electricity, water, gas, security, and maintenance — all of which are vital to keeping our Centre safe, functional, and welcoming.
With just R20,000 a month, we can do truly great things at the Centre. And we believe this is more than possible — if many people give just a little.
